While myriads of newspaper and online articles, blogs, etc. tell of the ‘History Wars’ in East Asia, information in such sources is mostly offered incomplete, selected without focus or to support only one-sided arguments. Lewis’ volume, however, is one of the rare works that guides those interested in questions of historical reconciliation in East Asia to understand, link and set into proper context the available knowledge of these topics that usually all academics involved in East Asian Studies know to some, but not to the necessary, extent.
