Editorial

Editorial Nordic Psychology, 2007, 59 (2) 93-94 EDITORIAL This issue contains articles in the domain of both child and adults with a good deal of weight on empirical support. Children Valtonen, Ahonen, Lyytinen and Tolvanen have screened a sample of no less than 434 children between the ages of 4 and 6 with neurodevelopmental tests. The results are most interesting showing significant continuity in development and that it is possible to recognise developmental problems. Lyytinen, Ronimus, Alanko and Poikkeus have an important work on develop- mental problems with a specific focus on delayed reading acquisiton. On the basis of the Jyväskylä Longitudinal study of Dyslexia they have empirical docu- mentation that childen in need of support can be identified years before school age. After a brief review of the literature on computer-based interventions, pilot data is reported on the effects of a computer game ‘Literate’ that has been spe- cially developed for preventive training with children who are at risk of failing to acquire reading skill at a normal rate. Endrerud and Vikan focus on 5 to 7 years children with an interesting focus on their strategies for regulating anger, sadness and fear. 83 children from kindergar- ten and primary http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Nordic Psychology Taylor & Francis
