Creativity in Virtual Teams - Key Components for Success

Creativity in Virtual Teams - Key Components for Success Book Review Reviewed by: Celia Romm Livermore Wayne State University By Jill E. Nemiro Pfeiffer, An Imprint of Wiley, 2004 ISBN: 0- 78 79- 71 14-6 The focus of this book on the creative aspect of virtual work is unique. The author explains this choice by indicating that the emphasis on creativity was motivated by the role that virtual teams play in global competition. As put by the author, "in today's competitive business environment where innovation and speed to market are crucial, teaming plays a vital business role in bringing key contributors together to focus on joint work objectives, common problems and how to develop innovative solutions". Indeed, creativity, as noted by many authors in the field, is one of the major advantages of virtual teams in comparison to co-located teams. It is the potential for creativity that often compensates for the many obstacles that virtual teams need to overcome on the way to effective and efficient performance. This well written and well organized book is intended primarily for the business practitioner. It was written for designers, leaders, and virtual team members with a theoretical understanding of managerial processes, who wish to apply this understanding to enhance the creativity http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Journal of Global Information Technology Management Taylor & Francis
