The Expert Opinion An Interview with Zhanbei (James) Zhu, Ph.D Vice President, Chief Information Officer Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell Co., Ltd. Conducted by: Wei Zhang, University of Massachusetts Boston, wei.zhang@umb.edu Dr. Zhanbei (James) Zhu is vice president and chief information oflcer (CIO) for Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell Co., Ltd. Dr. Zhu has been with Shanghai Bell for 15 years, assuming the position of CIO in 2004. Prior to Shanghai Bell, Dr. Zhu was the CIO of China Europe International Business School. In addition to his extensive industry experience, Dr. Zhu was also the author or translator of several books on IT governance, and was involved in several Chinese NSF-sponsored research projects. He has taught courses on IS project management and IS governance at top Chinese business schools and is a frequent speaker at conferences and forums. Dr. Zhu holds a B.E. from University of Science and Technology of China, and earned a doctoral degree in Management from Peking University.
