International Nursing Research Chanter 11 CONTENTS The Significance of International Nursing Research The Review Procedure Adysis of International Research in Nursing Clinical Nursing Research Nursing Educahahon Research Nursing Administratian Research Summary and Future Directions This review is divided into three sections focusing on international nursing research for clinical care, education, and administration. h each section the discussions are framed in terms of the following questions: What problems are being addressed? Why are the problems significant in the context of science and nursing? What methodologies are used and how rigorous is the research? What is the social benefit of the work including its contribution to in- tanational understanding? "International nursing research" has been defined broadly as: (a) scientific work conducted worldwide, (b) addressing problems in clinical nursing, nursing education, or nursing administration, and (c) using the methodologies of description, hypothesis-testing, program evaluation, policy research, or diffusion of knowledge. The review is limited to studies reported in English-language publications and conducted in comhies other than the United States.
