The purpose of this chapter is to present an overview of research about fatigue during the childbearing period from the perspective of nursing and related dis- cipl ines. 34 RESEARCH ON NURSING PRACTICE PROCESS FOR REVIEW A search of nursing and related journals from the past 20 years revealed a num- ber of studies of fatigue in healthy and ill populations but few studies about fatigue during the childbearing period. A thorough review of studies that were focused on fatigue as a concept during childbearing periods (pregnancy, labor, delivery, postpartum) yielded little. Fatigue was seldom an explicit predictor or outcome variable of the research.
