Workshop announcement Agroforestry Systems 21: 99, 1993. Sustainable cattle production in sub-Saharan Africa: optimising resource use First Biennial Workshop of the Cattle Research Network 17-21 May 1993 Addis Ababa, Ethiopia The first Biennial Workshop of the Cattle Research Network (CARNET) will be held at ILCA Headquarters, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from 17 to 21 May 1993. The main theme of the workshop, 'Sustainable cattle production in sub-Saharan Africa: optimising resource use', will be addressed under the following subthemes: 9 Cattle production (milk and meat) and sustainable land-use in integrated crop- livestock production systems. 9 Policy, socio-economics and environmental implications. 9 Farmers' organisations and gender issues. 9 Biodiversity in animal and range resources and the role of biotechnology.
