The semantic-syntactical interface: Incorporated actants and excorporation

The semantic-syntactical interface: Incorporated actants and excorporation The participant (actant) included into the actantial structure of a verb is called semantically incorporated, but it has a fixed lexical structure and is not reflected in the superficial structure; for example, “eyes” is the incorporated actant of the verb to “see,” cf. я вu∂ел ее Ƨлaэaмu (I saw her with eyes). The taxonomic classes of verbs taking incorporated participants are studied, as well as taxonomic classes of names subject to incorporation. The concept of excorporation is introduced. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Automatic Documentation and Mathematical Linguistics Springer Journals

Abstract

The participant (actant) included into the actantial structure of a verb is called semantically incorporated, but it has a fixed lexical structure and is not reflected in the superficial structure; for example, “eyes” is the incorporated actant of the verb to “see,” cf. я вu∂ел ее Ƨлaэaмu (I saw her with eyes). The taxonomic classes of verbs taking incorporated participants are studied, as well as taxonomic classes of names subject to incorporation. The concept of excorporation is introduced.
