Study of shrinkage characteristics of concrete made with pozzolanic materials and partly replacing River sand by MS

Study of shrinkage characteristics of concrete made with pozzolanic materials and partly... This paper reveals an experimentation study of shrinkage characteristics of concrete produced by replacing natural fine aggregate (NFA) by manufactured sand (MS) in different percentages. Different percentage replacement of natural fine aggregate with manufactured sand considered are 0%, 20%, 40%, up to 100%. Cement is correspondingly replaced with 20% metakaolin, fly ash or silica fume or GGBFS. Shrinkage parameters such as length of crack, width of crack, total number of cracks and total area of cracks were detected after 2 h, 5 h, 10 h, 12 h, 24 h and after 28 days. The effects indicate that Shrinkage parameters are least for concrete formed by partially replacing 20% cement by silica fume and 60% natural sand by manufactured sand with highly packed microstructure. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Journal of Building Pathology and Rehabilitation Springer Journals
