Strange baryon signals of deconfinement in Pb−Pb collisions at 158 GeV/c per nucleon The main results of the CERN WA97 heavy ion experiment are summarized. The evidence for the formation of a deconfined state of matter in Pb−Pb collisions at CERN SPS energies, provided by these results, is discussed. Abstract

The main results of the CERN WA97 heavy ion experiment are summarized.
