Preserving digital information: A review Preserving Digital Information: A Review 1 The final report of the Task Force on Archiving of Digital Information follows its draft report by about nine months and the establishment of the group by about eighteen months. During that time there was considerable change in the conceptual framework developed within the group which is now evident in its final report. Initially they were charged with framing the key organiza- tional, technological, legal, and economic issues associated with adopting a strategy of "technology refreshing" for continued access to "electronie digital records." In the end they redefined technology refreshing as "migration" and paid very little attention to records at all, focusing on information as reflected in the title oft,heir report. Their contribution is a major landmark because of who the group was, and will probably help set an agenda for the political and organizational model for digital archives as under- stood by the library community.
