The change in pore structure of carbon reducing agents on reaction with silicon dioxide (on siliciding) at 1600–1700°C is studied. There is a sharp change in the fine pore structure of the silicided reducing agents. The reaction product of carbon with silicon dioxide is characterized by micropore structure corresponding to loose packing of its microcrystals.
