New Approach to Calculating the Natural Gas Content of Coal Beds

New Approach to Calculating the Natural Gas Content of Coal Beds A new approach is proposed to calculating the natural gas content of coal beds. This method may be used for coal of metamorphic stages III–V, which is most valuable for coking. An empirical relationship is proposed between the natural gas content of the beds and their properties and depth, the geostatic stress, and the hydrostatic pressure. The empirical constants in the equation are established for coal with a yield of volatiles of 18–32%. The proposed formula may be used when the available information regarding the natural gas content is limited. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Coke and Chemistry Springer Journals

Abstract

A new approach is proposed to calculating the natural gas content of coal beds.
