Modification of technical analysis for oxidized coal

Modification of technical analysis for oxidized coal The influence of the increased analytical moisture content due to oxidation of the coal on the results of technical analysis is investigated. Specifically, the influence of 10% increase in analytical moisture content on A d , s t d , and V daf is calculated for concentrates of G, Zh, K, and OS Donetsk coal and G and KSN Russian coal, which are widely used in Ukrainian coal concentrates. Increase in oxidation of the coal concentrates is accompanied by increase in the analytical moisture content. The correlation coefficient between the oxidation characteristics (K, Δt, and the conditional luminescence) and W a is 0.93–0.99. Increase in the coal’s analytical moisture content by more than 4% leads to errors in calculating A d , S t d , V d , and V daf greater than the permitted discrepancies between results from different laboratories. Since greater oxidation is associated with increase in the analytical moisture content and distortion of characteristics such as the yield of volatiles in the dry, ash-free state, it is advisable to take account of the analytical moisture content in the classification of coal according to Ukrainian State Standard DSTU 3472-96. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Coke and Chemistry Springer Journals
