Levels of Virus Incidence in Pathogen Tested and Group 1 Seed Potatoes in New Zealand

Levels of Virus Incidence in Pathogen Tested and Group 1 Seed Potatoes in New Zealand Five pathogen tested potato cultivars were tested for potato viruses X (PVX), (PVS), and Y (PVY) at 7 weeks and 16 weeks after sowing. After 7 weeks the only virus detected was PVS at 4.2 and 5.6% in two cultivars. At 16 weeks all cultivars had become reinfected with at least one virus; infection levels ranged frm 8.7–56.0% for PVS. 6.1–18.9% for PVX, and 0–24.3% for PVY. Mixed infections of PVS with PVX or PVY ranged from 2.7–12.6%. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Australasian Plant Pathology Springer Journals
