Don well deserves to be the 2002 recipient of this prestigious honor. He has contributed frequently and impressively to our discipline during his distinguished career. Prof. Bersoff earned his PhD in psychology from New York University in 1975 and went on to obtain his JD in 1976 from Yale Law School, where he was a member of the editorial board of the Yale Law Journal. Don served as director of the JD/PhD program at University of Maryland and John Hopkins from 1976 to 1982. During part of that time he also served as the First General Counsel of the American Psychological Association (APA; 1979–89) where he drafted 50 amicus curiae briefs submitted to appellate courts in the United States including the U.S. Supreme Court.
