In memoriam of Oleg P. Solonenko Thermophysics and Aeromechanics, 2018, Vol. 25, No. 3 DOI: 10.1134/S0869864318030149 On March 28, 2018, the well-known scientist in the field of plasma dynamics of disperse systems, mathematical modeling of plasma technologies, development of scientific bases of plasma spraying of coatings, and processing and synthesis of powder materials, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Oleg P. Solonenko passed away. Oleg Solonenko was born on February 16, 1945 in the city of Partizansk of the Primorsky Krai in the family of a coal miner. As a winner of the Olympiad among schoolchildren of Primorsk Krai, he entered the Mechanics and Mathematics Department of Novosibirsk State University, which he graduated from in 1967. Then Oleg P. Solonenko worked at the Institute of Mathematics SB RAS, at the Novosibirsk Institute of Water Transport Engineers, and in 1972, he was invited to the Institute of Thermophysics SB RAS, where he worked consist- ently as Head of the research group, Head of the sector, and from 1981 as Head of the laborato- ry. In 1977, Oleg Solonenko defended his candidate’s thesis, and in 1979, he began his close cooperation with academician M.F. Zhukov in the research of thermal plasma and technolo- gies.
