Eine wichtige Basis der Kompetenz von Lehrkraften bildet die Aus-, Fort- und Weiterbildung, zusammengefasst im Begriff "Lehrerbildung". Grundlegende Literatur zu diesem Thema - insbesondere im deutschsprachigen Raum - ist rar gesat. Empirisch fundierte For schungsergebnisse tiber Wirkungen von Lehrerbildung sind seiten, insbesondere was de ren Zusammenhang mit Schiilerleistungen betrifft. Dies gilt selbst fur den Bereich des Lernens von Mathematiklehrkraften, obwohl die Mathematikdidaktik zu den am weites ten entwickelten Fachdidaktiken zahlt. Deshalb ist es hOchst an der Zeit, dass ein deutschsprachiges Handbuch zur Lehrer bildung vorliegt, wie etwa auf internationaler Ebene von Houston (1990) oder Sikula (1996).
