From the Desk of the Editor Indian J Surg Oncol (July–September 2011) 2(3):151 DOI 10.1007/s13193-011-0120-4 EDITORIAL Kodanagur S. Gopinath Published online: 21 January 2012 Indian Association of Surgical Oncology 2012 belong to Lucknow but also beyond Lucknow there he is belongs to Indian Sub continent, and I was proud to be associated with him. He was always there in all the form to related cancer in any part of the country. He uses to travel to various cancer meeting in the country by spending his own money and not accepting the sponsorship from local organizations, indicates the concern for the development of speciality of surgical Oncology. For people like me three decades ago he was the leader, and remained friend, philosopher and guide and promoted us in the association of Surgical Oncology and Association of Surgeons of India. With the limited resource available those days of yester, years he has established academic department of Surgical Oncology at KGMC Lucknow. The decision by the IASO executive committee to hold conference at Lucknow in 2011 was apt—and I felt it is the right time to dedicate this issue to a great teacher, academician, Surgeon and an able administrator.
