Behalve bij refractaire symptomen als pijn, dyspneu en delier passen artsen palliatieve sedatie ook toe bij niet-lichamelijke refractaire symptomen als existentieel lijden. Maar is dat wel de geëigende interventie bij deze indicatie? Wat zeggen de richtlijnen hierover? En wordt deze interventie bij existentieel lijden niet te snel als een verkapt euthanasiemiddel ingezet? Er is meer duidelijkheid nodig over toepassing van continue palliatieve sedatie bij de indicatie existentieel lijden.
