Editor’s preface Acta Phys. Hung. A 27/4 (2006) 395 HEAVY ION DOI: 10.1556/APH.27.2006.4.1 PHYSICS The Budapest 2006 Workshop on Hot and Dense Matter in Relativistic Heavy Ion Collisions was held on April 9–12, 2006, in Budapest, Hungary. In the seventies and eighties conferences devoted to nuclear physics, and later to heavy ion physics, were organized regularly here in Hungary. The generation organizing these conferences is now in their 70’s. We celebrated their birthday with a workshop held in Budapest 2002. We believed that it is our duty and privilege to restart that old tradition, and we plan to organize a series of workshops every second year on different subjects of heavy ion physics. This Workshop is now the third one within the hopefully long-lasting series of these workshops. This Workshop was organized with the aim to bring together specialists in the field of hot and dense strong interacting matter, hadronization in heavy ion colli- sions, chiral restoration and dynamics of hadronic matter. The Workshop offered a possibility for theoretical physicists to display their results and to discuss them in detail. We invited a few experimentalists as well, to show and summarize the most interesting recent results and future perspectives in heavy http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Acta Physica Hungarica Series A, Heavy Ion Physics Springer Journals
