Determination of response of multistorey structure subjected to blast loading

Determination of response of multistorey structure subjected to blast loading As small-sized explosive devices containing powerful and explosive materials with a long range are available nowadays hence the threat of explosion has increased significantly. The energy released during the blast hits the structure in the form of waves which are a combination of overpressure and either impulse or duration. This results in massive internal and external damage and also reduces the strength of the structure. Hence it has been necessary to design structures for resisting blast loads. So regarding this situation, the current study mainly focuses on the response of a structure when the blast occurs at its façade. The considered charge weights are 2000 kg, and 4000 kg of TNT, and different standoff distances such as 10 m, 20 m, 30 m, 40 m, and 50 m. All of these blast loads are examined using TM-5 1300. The Time History Analysis was carried out using ETABS software. Finally, incident pressure graphs and reflected pressure graphs which were obtained as the results in this paper, are presented as well. Further storey level pressure impulse curves were also developed using MATLAB. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Journal of Building Pathology and Rehabilitation Springer Journals

Abstract

As small-sized explosive devices containing powerful and explosive materials with a long range are available nowadays hence the threat of explosion has increased significantly.
