Preface Dedication of this Special Issue of Aquatic Geochemistry in Celebration of Frank J. Millero’s 65th Birthday There are certainly very few scientists in the field of aquatic geochemistry who have enjoyed such a long, highly productive and influential career as Frank J. Millero. Not only have his books and hundreds of papers con- tributed a substantial body of knowledge to the physical chemistry of natural waters, and in particular seawater, but his mentoring of students and col- leagues has guided and influenced a generation of aquatic scientists. Frank has also been generous in his service to the aquatic science community and played an exceptionally active role in bringing scientists together on a global scale. Frank Millero afloat in a whiting (tempting the legendary white sharks who abide there) on the Great Bahama Bank, 2003 2 It is in recognition of his outstanding career and reaching the milestone age of 65 that several of his colleagues who have interacted with Frank over the years, some from their student days, felt that it was appropriate to pre- pare this special issue of Aquatic Geochemistry honoring him.
