Robin Steier Goldberg, Ph.D. On Sunday, October 14, 2001, we celebrated the 60th anniversary of the founding of the American Institute for Psychoanalysis. We take great pride in this achievement, since we are the fifth oldest psychoanalytic insti- tute in the United States and the second psychoanalytic institute to be founded in New York. The theme of the celebration was “honoring our pioneers and celebrating our future.” These themes were echoed in the spirit of the gathering and in the speeches given by Dr. Mario Rendon and Dr. Kenneth Winarick. Dr. Giselle Galdi introduced each of the pioneering members and linked their contributions to the Institute’s historical mile- stones. Six honorees were able to attend the reception. Dr. Theodore Rubin stressed the importance of honoring Horney’s theory and her legacy. Dr. Helen DeRosis spoke about the importance of feelings in psychoanalytic work. In a more personal vein, Dr. Louis DeRosis shared with us some of his experiences with Dr. Horney. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png The American Journal of Psychoanalysis Springer Journals
