Managing Creative Works in a Digital World’’ is the eighth volume of the Series on Legal Information and Communication Technol- ogies, by EPAP (European Press Academic Publisher). The book is the result of a joint effort between researchers from two different communities with overlapping interests: the Creative Commons community and the Artificial Intelligence and Law community, more concretely those researchers working on the management of legal multimedia information. The book not only gathers the reflections deriving from a mature experience of both communities in the design of legal and technical instruments for enhancing free access to digital culture, but provides, for the first time, a space for dialogue and synergies between them. The book tries to provide answers to such varied questions as what are the best technical and legal options to enable digital commons, to enhance the collaborative production of knowledge, to ensure interoperability and accessibility of digital contents.
