Contingency Analysis in Power System- Using UPFC and DVR Devices with RDOA

Contingency Analysis in Power System- Using UPFC and DVR Devices with RDOA Contingency analysis has been considered as critical issue in power systems because it initiates failures in transmission line and failure in equipment. Hence, this paper is presented Red Deer Algorithm (RDA) to manage contingency condition for improving security of the power system. The proposed algorithm is utilized to solve the Optimal Power flow (OPF) with multi-objective functions. The multi-objective function is consisting of six single objective functions such as power loss, voltage deviation, fuel cost, Flexible Alternating Current Transmission System (FACTS) device installation cost, severity index, congestion cost. In the power system, the contingency condition is managed with the help of FACTS devices such as Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) and Dynamic voltage restoration (DVR) respectively. The optimal allocation of the UPFC and DVR is identified with the help of RDA algorithm. The optimal placement is enhancing the system security, reliable and stability of the system while contingency conditions in power system. The proposed method is implemented in MATLAB, and it is tested on IEEE 30 and IEEE 300 bus system respectively. The results of the proposed method are analyzed with three scenario such as generator outage, line outage and overload condition. The proposed method is compared with existing methods such as Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Firefly Algorithm (FA) respectively. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Technology and Economics of Smart Grids and Sustainable Energy Springer Journals

Abstract

Contingency analysis has been considered as critical issue in power systems because it initiates failures in transmission line and failure in equipment.
