He has said to them, "It is also pertinent to note that in the opinion of experts of national standing the dyslexic child is distinctly different from other handicapped children, with need for diagnostic, remedial and class placement services and pro- grams differing in many vital aspects from those required by other handi- capped children, although a severe reading, writing and spelling disability may be a common but not necessarily paramount disability among other categories of our handicapped." Provisions have been made for state subsidy of the expenses of educating certain groups of atypical children in several states in addition to those more fully described in this and earlier Bulletins. Included are: New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland. There are doubtless others and the number is growing rapidly. CONFERENCES ON DYSLEXIA AND RELATED MATTERS 1966 - 1967 In addition to The Orton Society's Annual Meeting in October, 1966, the Bulletin editor has been aware of an increasing number of conferences with programs centered on the problems of dyslexia, and other conferences devoting one or more sessions to this subject.
