They not only need to perform a wide variety of jobs on the field, farm, or road, they are also expected to have a minimal impact on the environment. In order to meet these sometimes conflicting demands, developers are intensively searching for new solutions – from cloud applications to new tires. In spite of increasingly strict emissions legislation, the diesel engine will continue to play a major role in the tractor industry for the foreseeable future. Nevertheless, vehicle manufacturers are looking for alternatives to replace the internal combustion engine in certain areas. For example, battery-powered drive systems are being used more and more in mobile machines.
