Abstract

The reaction of 1-phosphinyl-2-arylacetylenes with Cp2ZrCl2, Mg, and EtAlCl2 in THF at ambient temperature followed by hydrolysis and subsequent oxidation leads to formation of [(1E,3E)-2,3-diarylbuta-1,3-dien-1,4-diyl]bis(diphenylphosphine oxide) in good yield.
