Volchkov, the prominent scientist worked in the area of thermophysics, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, and Full Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences would have celebrated his 80th anniversary. Eduard P. Volchkov was born in Izhevsk, and his family lived in Smolensk and Moscow Regions. Having graduated from Moscow Power Engineering Institute in 1959 and after two years of work for one of the Moscow plants, E.P. Volchkov bound his career with the Institute of Thermophysics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, where he pro- ceeded from junior researcher to head of department and deputy director. E.P. Volchkov was one of the first progeny of academicians S.S. Kutateladze and A.I. Leontyev. Under their su- pervision, he defended Ph.D. thesis in 1964 and doctoral thesis in 1972. Eduard P. Volchkov was elected a Corresponding Member of RAS in 1997 and a Full Member of RAS in 2008. Both in our country and abroad, E.P.
