¥. ,¢ Our colleague, Dr. Zden~k Matejcek of Prague, Czechoslovakia, has sent us the following letter as one more piece of evidence that "it's the same the whole world over." He says, by way of preface, "Here is an anonymous letter which we received as reaction to our TV program, ~The Book is My Enemy,' put on in the summer of 1972. An Australian lady who was here for a visit translated the letter into English, and I thought you would like to read it. It might be that the re~ders of the Bulletin also would find it interesting. At least, this case is directly in line with the results of your studies of intelligent American boys." Dear Sirs, Until now I have never reacted to a program on television or radio, and I am almost sixty years old. Your program about people who are unable to learn to read moved me to the extent that, for the first time, I am reacting, even though anonymously. I am one of them. I am ashamed of it, and, therefore, my signature is missing. I have, in all, six academic degrees and titles such as Dr. Sc., and Professor (Univ.), etc.
