20th anniversary of our journal Thermophysics and Aeromechanics, 2014, Vol. 21, No. 1 In early 1994, the first issue of “Thermophysics and Aeromechanics” was published. How- ever in reality, its story started much earlier. In 1957, the Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences was organized and centered in the city of Novosibirsk. In this connection, the journal “Proceedings of the East Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences” published here was transformed into “Proceedings of the Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences”, which was consecutively headed by academicians S.L. Sobolev, V.V. Struminsky and M.F. Zhukov. In 1963, the journal was divided into four series, including the Series of Technical Sciences. Since 1987, the English version of the series has been published in the USA by corporation Scripta Tech- nica (John Wiley & Sons Company) under the title “Soviet Journal of Applied Physics” (previously some of the articles were translated and published by the same company in the journals “Fluid Mechanics ⎯ Soviet Research” and “Heat Transfer ⎯ Soviet Research”).
