This paper outlines the processes involved in implementing a Quality Assurance programme at Lidcombe Hospital. It deals with the committee structure; the functions and responsibilities of these committees; the role of the Quality Assurance Co-ordinator; and implementation of the Quality Assurance programme. The major issues to be considered when initiating a Quality Assurance project are illustrated with a specific example of a study carried out on the usage of Amoxycillin.
