Jorge da Silva Answers Topical Questions THIS MONTH: THE SUPREME COURT RULES ON THE ROWLEY CASE Dear Dr. da Silva: I have been hearing and reading a considerable amount about the recent Supreme Court decision in the Board of Education v. Rowley case. Ho w will this decision affect students in my school district? I am concerned and would like further information. David W . Hill Dear Mr. Hill: You are quite correct to be concerned. The ramifications of the United States Supreme Court decision on the Rowley case are far-reaching. It will impact heavily upon the manner and scope of related services that must be provided the handi- capped child by the public school. This is wh y I am responding in detail. The United States Supreme Court on June 28, 1982, rendered its decision on the Rowley case (Hendrick Hudson Central School District Board of Education, Westchester Coun- NOV. 1982 239 ty, et al., Petitioners v. Am y Rowley, by her parents and natural guardians, Clifford and Nancy Rowley, Respondents).
