Gould’s Juggling: A Memoir of Work, Family, and TFeminism (New York: Feminist Press, 1997). Former director of the Barnard Women’s Center, Jane Gould was a pioneer in the 1950s who worked to establish women’s career net- works and programs to help women to define their personal and professional goals and jug- gle the demands of career and family. With a compassion born of personal experience, she writes of her struggle to balance increasingly absorbing work with heavy family responsi- bilities and how this struggle led to a stronger sense of self amid persistent feelings of fear, inadequacy, and not belonging.
