Lockavitch The average person, when asked what are the three Ks of education, will most probably respond, "Reading, riting, and 'rithmetic." There are, however, three lesser known Ys" that special educators, parents, and teachers should become familiar with: ridiculous, redundant, and review. Using Ridiculous Visual Images The idea of presenting material in as ridiculous a manner as possible is not a new one. This philosophy was advocated by the early Greeks. They believed that the more odd or startling the connection or association, the more likely the person would remember the idea or concept to be associated. Lorayne and Lucas (1974) present rules that will allow adults to make stronger memory associations through the use of ridiculous visual images. They call this system 'linking " and state that: Joseph F.
