The Australian Journal of Education publishes papers on the theory and practice of education from scholars throughout the world who come from the disciplines such as philosophy, psychology, political science, economics, history, anthropology, medicine, and sociology. It is hoped that manuscripts accepted for publication represent the highest quality of scholarship and research in education, and reflect varying methodologies and conceptual frameworks. In preparing articles for publication in the Australian Journal of Education, authors should follow the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (3rd ed.). Instructions on non-sexist language, tables, figures, references, metrication, and typing appear in the Manual. All articles should be preceded by an abstract of 100-175 words and should be a maximum of thirty typed, double-spaced, A4 or quarto sized pages (including References and Tables). Authors are requested also to provide a list of six keywords which are to be drawn from the Australian Thesaurus of Education Descriptors, prepared by G. B. Lavender and M. A. Findlay (Hawthorn: ACER, 1984). Four copies of each manuscript should be submitted. Dittoed and mimeographed copies are not acceptable and will not be considered. Authors should keep a copy of the manuscript to guard against loss in the mail and should check carefully the typing of the final copy. Because manuscripts will be evaluated by a blind reviewing system, authors are requested to include with each copy of the manuscript a cover sheet that shows the title of the manuscript, the name of the author/s, their academic position or employment title, the address of all institution/s, and the date the manuscript is submitted. The first page of the manuscript should omit the authors' names and affiliations but should include the title of the manuscript. Every effort should be made by the authors to see that the manuscript itself contains no clues to their identities. Manuscripts (four copies) and Books for Review should be addressed to the Editor: Professor Millicent E. Poole, Faculty of Education, Monash University, Clayton, Victoria 3168. Subscriptions Three issues: Within Australia $A30.00 ($A45.00 for institutions); Overseas $A35.00 ($A55.00 for institutions). Members of the State Institutes of Educational Research receive the Journal on special terms through the Institutes. Address all enquiries concerning subscriptions and other administrative matters to: The Business Manager of the AJE, ACER, Radford House, Frederick Street, Hawthorn, Victoria 3122.
