Notes for Contributors The Australian jouYllal 4 Education publishes papers on the theory and practice of education from scholars throughout the world who come from the disciplines such as philosophy, psychology, political science, economics, history, anthropology, medicine, and sociology. It is hoped that manuscripts accepted for publication represent the highest quality of scholarship and research in education, and reflect varying methodologies and conceptual frameworks. In preparing articles for publication in the Australian jouYllal (if Education, authors should follow the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (4th ed.). Instructions on non-sexist language, tables, figures, refer ences, metrication, and typing appear in the Manual. All articles should be pre ceded by an abstract of 100-150 words and should be a maximum of 6000 words (including References and Tables). Authors are rcquestscd also to provide a list of six keywords which are to be drawn from the Australian Thesaurus of Education Descriptors (2nd ed.), compiled and edited by Elspeth Miller and Margaret Findlay (Melbourne: ACER, 1996). Four copies of each manuscript should be submitted together with identical disk. Clearly label the disk with the hardware and software used, the article title and your name. Authors should keep a copy of the manuscript to guard against loss in the mail and should check carefully the typing of the final copy. Every effort should be made by the authors to see that the manuscript itself contains no clues to their identities. Manuscripts (four copies) and Books for Review should be addressed to: Associate Professor Gabriele Lakomski, Editor, AJE, Department of Education Policy and Management, The University of Melbourne, Parkville, Victoria 3052.
