ATLA 16 120-124 1988 advice on pointe of importance relating to this has been incorporated into a guidance note now issued to anyone applying for a project licence in this area. No project licence applications for work involving the testing of tobacco or ite products were received, but the Committee considered and recommended to the Secretary of State two project licences for the testing of cosmetic substances. The Home Secretary will continue to refer to the APC all applications for project licences 1n these three areas. The Committee has appointed a Research Sub Committee to advise the Secretary of State on the projects which might be supported for the reduction of the use of animals in experiments, the refinement of techniques, and the replacement of animals by other methods.
