Afte r two days of testing and a rather high fee, th e B.'s receive a lengthy , detailed report of the findings. Th e report is replete with technical jargon that is unfamiliar t o most laymen; and the B.'s are too embarrassed to ask the evaluators what they mean—so they wait. Unfortunately, this is no t a hypothetical situation, but one in which I was involved. These parents finally sought the advice of a friend who is a clinica l psychologist. He asked if I could be involved to "trans- late " these findings into language that was comprehensible.
