Educational Research: An Australian University Monopoly?

Educational Research: An Australian University Monopoly? In Australia, educational research and the training of educational researchers has, traditionally, been considered a university function. An analysis of educational journals, grants for research in education, and the values expressed by decision making bodies regarding the place of the colleges of advanced education in educational research suggests that despite the changing role and function of the CAEs, the university system still dominates educational research. As long as present attitudes and conditions exist, it is unlikely that the situation will change significantly. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Australian Journal of Education SAGE

Abstract

In Australia, educational research and the training of educational researchers has, traditionally, been considered a university function. An analysis of educational journals, grants for research in education, and the values expressed by decision making bodies regarding the place of the colleges of advanced education in educational research suggests that despite the changing role and function of the CAEs, the university system still dominates educational research. As long as present attitudes and conditions exist, it is unlikely that the situation will change significantly.
