Editorial © Public Policy and Administration SAGE Publications Ltd London, Thousand Oaks, CA and New Delhi 0952-0767 200702 22(1) 5–6 Public Policy and Administration: A New Era Robert Pyper Glasgow Caledonian University, UK This special issue of Public Policy and Administration marks the beginning of a new and exciting phase in the development of the journal, as it moves into a joint ownership and publishing arrangement between SAGE and the Public Administration Committee (PAC) of the Joint University Council (JUC). As Richard Chapman’s article in this issue makes clear, Public Policy and Admin- istration emerged and developed within the broader context of an institutional base in the JUC and PAC. For most of its life, the printing and production of Public Policy and Administration has been carried out through a very successful arrangement with Owain Hammonds. However, in view of the modernization challenges facing academic journals today (including the increased requirement for electronic access and advanced marketing), the opportunity to establish a joint ownership relationship with a large and successful publishing house that could offer a wide range of professional support to the editorial team, was extremely attractive.
