It has been a great privilege for me to edit the journal since June 2000, and I am extremely grateful to my colleagues on the Editorial Board for all of their support over this period. Thanks are also due to Sharon Maguire, at Glasgow Caledonian University, who has provided invaluable administrative assistance for the journal during the latter stage of my Editorship. I am stepping down at the end of the first phase of the new publishing arrangements, and I would like to express my appreciation to David Mainwaring, Anthony Green and their colleagues at Sage for all that they have done to ensure a smooth transition as the journal entered this new stage of development. Over the past few months I have been working closely with Duncan McTavish and Karen Miller, as Associate Editors, to produce the first volume of the Sage era, and they will now assume full responsibility for the journal as co-editors. I am sure that Duncan and Karen will find the experience rewarding and stimulating, and I wish them, the Editorial Board, and the International Advisory Board, great success as the journal moves into its next phase.
