The Calgary Family Assessment Model and the Calgary Family Intervention Model are being used to teach practicing nurses how to support families who are caring for dependent family member (for more information, see https://www.youtube. com/watch?v=rFMyZOZuXHg). The research team includes professors Cristina Garcia-Vivar (principal investigator), Ana Canga, and Navidad Canga; as well as nurses Begoña Flamarique, Maite Echeverría, and Olalla Moriones. This family nursing ran- domized controlled trial is the first of its kind in Spain and has been funded by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness for the period 2012-2015. Dr. Garcia-Vivar and her team were recently given an award for best poster at the Final Family Health Nursing Conference in Porto, Portugal, September 2013.
