MOORHOUSE Thus the class which had read "Erewhon" in 1956 proceeded to read " Back to Methuselah" in 1957 and had a series of lectures by members of the Department of Zoology staff on Heredity and Evolution and the class which had read" Brave New World" in 1957 had a series of lectures by various professional men on 'Professional Ethics', studied the Codes of Ethics of various Professional Institutions and read portion of Whitehead's" Adventures of Ideas ". In each year the students concerned have engaged in the Book Study with considerable interest and enthusiasm. DR. J. W. STAINES has the degrees B.A., B.Ec., B.Ed. and Ph.D. Since 1949 he has been Vice-Principal of the Newcastle Teachers' College. He also lectures in Education and Psychology at the Newcastle University College, is on the Board of.~ J: •.M..~.li.. and is President of the Newcastle Branch of the N.E.F. He has publishe~alaterialin the Forum of Education and the British Journal of Education. DR. ELSIE HARWOOD has been associated with Psychology in the University of Queensland since 1941, and is at present a Senior Lecturer in Psychology at that University. She holds the degrees M.A. and Ph.D., and is the author of Introduction to Greek PhilosoPhy, published by the University of Queensland Press in 1948. Since 1952 she has been Secretary of the Queensland Council for Mental Health, and is at present Sub-Dean of the Faculty of Arts, University of Queensland. DR. W. J. CAMPBELL is a Senior Lecturer in Education at the University of Sydney. He graduated M.A. (1947), Dip.Ed. (1949) from the University of New Zealand and Ph.D. (1951) from the University of London. He has taught in New Zealand schools and has contributed to a number of overseas journals. :;A~~ COCHRAN, B.A., Sydney, is employed as a Research Assistant in the University's Department of Education. A. M. GINGES is a graduate of Sydney University and Teachers' College. For some years he was associated with the Sydney Technical College, and is at present a Lecturer in English at the University of New South Wales. Since 1945 he has been active in Adult Education. He spent 1957 in America on Fulbright and Carnegie Awards, observing courses and methods of teaching English and Humanities programs in the major Universities and Institutes of Technology. PROFESSOR C. E. MOORHOUSE has been Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Melbourne since 1948. He holds the degrees B.Mech.E., B.E.E., M.E.E. He has published various technical papers in professorial engineering journals, is a member of the Nuffield Advisory Committee, and is on the councils of Melbourne Grammar School, Royal Melbourne Technical College, University Women's College and the Australian Institute of Engineers. DR. W. G. WALKER has just returned from three years in America, where he was Assistant to the Director at the Bureau of Educational Research, University of Illinois. In 1956 he received a Fulbright Travel Grant to study at Illinois, and in 1958 gained a Carnegie Grant to investigate educational administration in the U.S.A., Canada and Great Britain. Dr. Walker has an M.A. from Sydney and Ph.D. from Illinois. At present he is a Lecturer in Education at the Armidale Teachers' College, and part time lecturer at the University of New England. He is co-author with A. R. Crane of Peter Board; His Contribution to tke Development of Education in New South Wales. ACER 1957. P. B. KENNY is a Graduate Student in Psychology at the University of Sydney. He graduated B.A. from the University of Sydney in 1955, having taught in State schools since 1951.
