ANZJ Crim (1977) 10 190 BOOK REVIEWS There may well be many criticisms to level at this book, but the fact remains that Papua New Guinea is a country that is developing on our northern doorstep and it is of huge criminological interest. Its present problems (1975 vintage as well as 1977 and onwards) should be documented, its endeavours to cope with their various problems should be documented and Australia as its nearest "developed" neighbour has a duty to give what aid we are able - on the basis of invitation which is what occurred on the occasion of the seminar in July 1975. This book is an interesting document to anyone concerned with the criminology of emergent populations.
