Abstract

BOOK REVIEWS 81 of treatment of the variety of plays, presenting a realistic approach to the teaching of drama for the teacher who perhaps does not feel (adequately) qualified to treat the subject. His method is one of simplification of the problems the play presents, both semantically, ideologically and historically, with the object of learning how to appreciate and enjoy a play for itself. IAN HART, Kingsgrove South High School, N.S.W. Measurement and Evaluation in Education, Psychology, and Guidance. Georgia Sachs Adams (in consultation with Theodore L. Torgeson). New York. This review is written with an Australian measurement, for use in audience in mind, and comments about the value of certain chapters reflect this perspective. In the U.S.A. the same chapters would be very useful. Part I deals with Basic Principles and Procedures. The introduction is useful and shows the student the wide relevance of measurement to educational problems. The section on illustrative problems deals with problems faced by a principal of a junior high school and his staff. Most of these problems have their counterpart in Australia.
