Book Review: Key Issues in Bilingualism and Bilingual Education

Book Review: Key Issues in Bilingualism and Bilingual Education Book Reviews and the child's teacher was provided with a similar profile and additional infor mation showing a distribution of correct and incorrect items according to the level of difficulty. Schools were supplied with summaries of their individual results which included an alphabetical list of student results and the means and standard deviations for the sub-groups mentioned above. Another section of the reports to schools showed state and school means-perhaps reminding the reader of the underlying principle of accountability. Although one might reflect on possible invidious comparisons among schools and teachers arising out of such a traditional testing program and its reporting system, it cannot be denied that Profiles ofLearning is a thoroughly informative and readable account of what New South Wales has done about a pressing issue being faced by educators in our state systems. Abstract

Book Reviews and the child's teacher was provided with a similar profile and additional infor mation showing a distribution of correct and incorrect items according to the level of difficulty.
