8- 11-3 best paper 12/06/08 8:29 am Page 337 The Best Paper Award of this journal was set up in 2003. The aim of this annual Award is to give special recognition to authors of the most meritorious paper published by this journal in a given year as judged by its International Editorial Board and International Advisory Board. The Award includes a certificate for each author of the winning paper plus US$200 to be shared by the authors. Each author of the winning paper will also receive a free subscription of the journal for two years. The selection process involves careful deliberations by the International Editorial Board and the International Advisory Board, coordinated by the editors of the journal. It gives me great pleasure to announce that the following two papers have been selected to receive the 2006 Best Paper Award for papers published in the journal in 2006: “Identification of bifurcation points occurring on the mechanism paths of deployable structures”, Vol. 9, No. 1, pp. 159-170, by T. Yoda and Z. You “Debonding mechanisms in FRP plated unreinforced masonry under out-of-plane loading”, Vol. 9, No. 5, pp. 619- 637, by Shaohua Xia and Deric Oehlers Normally the Award is given to only one paper each year. Two papers have been selected to receive the Award this time as they were judged to be equally meritorious. Please join me in congratulating the authors of the winning papers and in thanking the members of both the International Editorial Board and the International Advisory Board for all their hard work.
