International Third World Legal Studies Association Bulletins INTERNATIONAL THIRD WORLD LEGAL STUDIES ASSOCIATION The International Third World Legal Studies Association (INTWORLSA), orga­ nized this year by a group of law-oriented scholars, will promote interest in the com­ parative study of law and social change in Africa, Asia and Latin America. INTWORLSA will publish Third World Legal Studies, an annual collection of edited papers prepared for meetings or workshops. It will hold an annual meeting at the convention of the Association of American Law Schools as well as seminars and re­ gional meetings in conjunction with the activities of other international groups. In addition INTWORLSA will publish, from time to time, a newsletter on activities and projects of interest to its membership. INTWORLSA was created by the initiative of the membership of the African Law Association in America, who felt the need for an organization which enjoyed both a broader range of geographic interests and membership and one which could better reflect the work and concerns of legal scholars from all parts of the world. While INTWORLSA is based in North America it hopes to be a vehicle for scholars of all nationalities who perceive the need for an organization concerned with the third world as a focus of comparative legal studies. The President of INTWORLSA is Peter Mutharika, Professor of Law at Washington University in St. Louis. The Vice Presi­ dent is Paul Brietzke, Professor of Law at Valparaiso University, Valparaiso, Indiana. The Secretary-Treasurer is James Paul, Professor of Law at Rutgers University, New Jersey. The general editor of Third World Legal Studies is Lakshman Marasinghe of the Faculty of Law of Windsor University, Windsor, Canada. INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF LEGAL SCIENCE Executive Committee The biannual elections to the Executive Committee resulted in the election of A. Tunc, V.O. Reinikainen, J.G. Fleming, M. Cappelletti, Keba M'Baye, D. Mitrovic, V.N. Kudrjavtsev, W. Lorenz, H. Afchar. Office holders remain: J.G. Fleming (President), M. Cappelletti and V.N. Kudrjavtsev (Vice-Presidents). At its annual meeting in Pau, 9 July 1981, the Committee co-opted I. Winizky. It also appointed Professor J.A. Jolowicz of Trinity College, Cambridge to succeed Pro­ fessor H. KOtz as Director of Research for four years from 1 January 1983. Professor Kotz's term was extended for one year until the end of 1982. Colloquium This year's Colloquium took place at Pau, France, July 5-9. The subject was "The Settlement of Disputes out of Court." Written and oral submissions were delivered by P. Bellet, M. Cappelletti, F. Carpi, B. Garth, J. Kurczewski, K. M'Baye, Sheng-Yu, Y. Taniguchi, E. Vescovi, A. Victorin, and G. Wilson. The papers will be published in Economica.
